#MondayMotivation – No More Monday Blues!

#MondayMotivation – No More Monday Blues!

Am I the only one that feels that SATURDAY and SUNDAY is a scam? One minute it is Friday and the next it is MONDAY! What happened to the weekend?

Every time the sun sets on Sunday, I do this mental calculation especially when I know that I haven’t done what I should have done during the weekend. Conversations build up in my head and most times I basically give up.

Last weekend was funny. My job requires me to be able to attend to customers questions irrespective of the day/time. I had a makeup job for 12 noon. All through the morning I was holding my phone waiting to attend to customer’s needs. You won’t believe that it was not until I started the makeup that a ‘customer’ decided to chat me up. I was in a fix because I had to do the two but I couldn’t because my client got mad. That was when I started picturing what my Monday will be like.

A lot of us don’t like Mondays because it is the beginning of a whole new drama, nobody likes drama. Walking sluggishly to work, wearing a sad look or being emotionally down won’t solve anything. It will only make your Monday worse. You should know that your Monday doesn’t have to be bad because you work eight to five/nine to five. Here are tips on how to get rid of Monday blues.

WAKE UP AN HOUR EARLIER ON MONDAY
Most of us use our Sunday to hang out with friends and loved ones and we get all chatty and lose track of time. We end up getting home late and we basically aren’t ready for the new week.

Whatever you do, try to sleep early on Sunday. I personally make sure I sleep by 10pm so that by 4am I can get ready for work. Waking up an hour earlier will enable you organize yourself (in case you had a long Sunday). It really makes a lot of difference because you will feel better.

CREATE A PLAYLIST FOR MONDAYS
Songs have a way of calming and putting people in the right mood. Create a playlist of your favorite songs and push the play button as you are getting ready for work. Move your body to the beat of the music by creating your own concert. Happy music will definitely chase the blues away!

TREAT YOURSELF TO A NICE MEAL
Good food has a way of lifting one’s mood. Treat yourself to a nice meal. Add your favorite meal to your breakfast/lunch- plantain, muffin, waffles anything that you have a craving for. Balance with fruits and watch you smile all day.

DO SOMETHING NICE FOR A CO-WORKER
One of the best ways to boost your mood is to make someone smile. Offer to help a co-worker with an assignment or buy him/her lunch. Just do something nice for a colleague.

HAVE POSITIVE THOUGHTS
Have a positive mind about how your Monday will be. If thinking won’t do the trick, talk to yourself. Focus on the bright side of your job and why you like it.

Cheers to a happy Monday!!!
