Genevieve Nnaji’s ‘Lionheart’ premiered on Friday January 4th, 2019 on Netflix and Nigerians have been overhyped since it is the first Nigerian original film on the platform. So many Nigerians have come out to say the movie lived up to the hype.
The movie is about Ada who must work with her uncle to save her father’s legacy and transport company in less than one month. Although controversy trailed the film’s cinema run in Nigeria, most people patiently waited for its Netflix debut so they could watch from the comfort of their homes.
Here is what Nigerians have been saying about the movie.
That part where Genevieve stood up from Arinze’s couch, came to her senses and just quickly started going home 😂😂😂😂. Lmao ladies can we relate or nah?

That part Genevieve attempted to harmonise with Peter Okoye, I was like "sis we forgot please don't rehash old wounds"

I think Pete Edochie’s mastery of the English language is often underrated. His mastery of Igbo is on a different level.

I wish I was more blown away by Lionheart. It was lovely and many of the actors gave outstanding performances – Pete Edochie, Onyenka Onwenu, Nkem Owoh. But there was a certain energy that was missing. Also Ada and Hamza – zero chemistry. It was OK. A lovely, sentimental watch.

#LionHeartTheMovie thought provoking, inspiring, Simple and beautiful. Bridging the gap, fighting against the odds, taking on big burdens and challenges and coming out stronger… loved every bit of it!

Everybody brought their A game👌
With a strong positive female lead.🤗
Enugu and Kano were beautifully showcased ❤️
This is a step in the right direction. Hoping we can build from this.#LionHeart ❤️😍🤗

My favourite scene in Genevieve Nnaji's Lionheart is the dining scene. Everybody speaking Igbo without any form of transliteration is both aesthetically and auditory beautiful.💓#lionheartthemovie

I’m sorry even the deep love I have for Genevieve will not allow me celebrate a mediocre movie.
With the access that movie had, the output is frankly a shame.
