NBC Bans “This Is Nigeria”, “See Mary, See Jesus” And “Iskaba”

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned three songs by top Nigerian artiste. They banned “This Is Nigeria” by Falz, “See Mary, See Jesus” by Olamide and “Isakaba” by Wande coal from being broadcast in the country.

In the Letter the NBC wrote to a broadcast station in Jos, they fined the organization one hundred thousand naira for airing the songs. They said that the songs contain “Vulgar and indecent music lyrics”. They went on to say that they had repeatedly warned the station from airing these songs.

According to them, “This Is Nigeria” is laced with vulgar lyrics- “This is Nigeria, Look how we living now, everybody be criminal”. “See Mary, See Jesus” is laced with casual mention of Mary and Jesus which is sacred to the christians. It contravenes Section 4.3.1.e. “Iskaba” is vulgar- “Girl you dey make me kolo, shaking the ass like kolo” They said it contravenes Section 3.6.1 and Section 3.13.2.2c.
