Six different designers were approached to make bespoke dresses for Oprah for Vogue’s August editorial shoot. Erdem, Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen are the designers behind oprah’s vogue looks.
These designers explained to Vogue what this opportunity means to them and some explained how they came about the look for Oprah.
Christopher Kane said he was honoured to be asked to design an outfit for her. He further said that he admires her so much and she is indeed a great model to everybody.
Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler said that in order to create a special gown for Oprah, they had to look at ’30s Hollywood glamour. They further explained to vogue that the gown uses our 18th-century corset built in to deep russet red-sequin silk finished with a black and red tulle cape for extra drama
Stella McCartney said that Oprah is the most outstanding human and she bows to her. Erdem was thrilled to be given the opportunity. “I used a beautiful green jacquard from my autumn/winter 2018 show which was in fact inspired by another American star, Adele Astaire who is also infinitely inspiring.”
