The presence of dandruff indicates that the scalp must be dry, inappropriate scrubbing or seborrhoeic dermatitis- a condition that causes red, flaky and itchy skin as a result of too much yeast that’s present on oily areas of the skin. Dandruff is a threat to maintaining a healthy hair and long hair due to the dryness of the scalp but the good news is, it can be treated!
There are natural ingredients that help in taking care of dandruff completely from the hair. The natural ingredients are lemon juice and tea tree oil. Lemon juice contains strong anti-fungal properties that help maintain scalp health. It helps control the production of oil in your scalp. Lemon juice also helps stimulate re-growth from dormant hair follicles.
To apply to the hair,
Squeeze out the juice and massage 2 tablespoons lemon juice into your scalp and rinse with water. Then stir 1 teaspoon lemon juice into 1 cup water and rinse your hair with it. Repeat this daily until your dandruff disappears. Lemon’s acidity helps balance the pH of your scalp, which helps keeps dandruff at bay.
Tea tree oil:
The highly underestimated tea tree oil has its many benefits not only for the body or skin but to the hair as well. The tea tree oil contains antifungal and antibacterial properties that fight against the fungus that causes dandruff and does so without drying your scalp. It works as a natural conditioner to your hair and eliminates any agents that are causing your skin to flake. Tea tree oil cannot be used alone. Add a few drops of any of these oils; coconut oil, jojoba oil or almond oil. Mix it properly with a good quality shampoo and apply to your scalp.
