As the world anticipates one of the biggest fashion events to hold at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. We expect a whole lot from the event attended strictly by the nobles of film, fashion, music and art especially in terms of fashion!
Last year celebrated iconic designer Rei Kawakubo and her incredible work in the fashion industry. From the turn out, A-list Hollywood celebrities cam in their best channelliing their inner version of the renowned designer. Rihanna,Cara Delevigne, Zendaya, Solange, Kylie Jenner and a host of other best dressed celebrities set the paparazzi on fire in their astonishing pieces.
From the controversial theme of this year’s award “Heavenly Bodies; Fashion and the Catholic imagination” we smell the smoke of religious backlashes coming from the “religious faithfuls”. It will encompass everything from the previous themes-Manus x Machina, Punk: Chaos to Couture to China: Through the Looking Glass. The exhibition will explore fashion’s relationship with the Catholic church and features designs from Coco Chanel, John Galliano, and Cristóbal Balenciaga, alongside 40 pieces on loan from the Vatican.
Combining the 3 themes, we imagine a celebrity bold enough to wear a cape (as Catholic Fathers would) with a robotic sleeve/hand (just like the manus and machina theme) or a cassock embellished with studs! We also think Balenciaga might make a “spiritual” branded socks or some form of branded cloaks which will never be forgotten in the history of Met Gala! We are totally looking forward to the designs tonight!
For this year’s hosts; Donatella Versace, Amal Clooney and Rihanna, we expect nothing but over the top outfits. Donatella of course would step out in her custom outfit from her brand, Amal Clooney classy as usual and Rihanna doing the most with her outfit.
More to come on the Met Gala as the event kicks off later on today!
