Producing a movie in Nollywood is no joke not to talk about being a woman! Nothing in the entertainment industry is a walk in the park. We have heard stories from individuals who have made it big talk about how they started out, their struggles, their pains, fruitless auditions etc.
Nevertheless, the industry remains strong! Men have been taking the awards of “Best Produced” movie at the various awards in Nollywood. We hear strong names like Tunde Kelani, Lancelot Imasuen, Fred Amata (or the whole Amata Clan), Kunle Afolayan, Chico Ejiro and a host of others and we wonder if the women are just there to act.
Of course, they weren’t with names like Amaka Igwe, Emem Isong and many more women rising in this path we believe in the womenfolk! In the spirit of celebrating women, here are 5 women producers doing great in Nollywood!
1: Emem Isong: Award-winning Emem Isong is known for her skills in Directing and producing movies. She has produced movies such as Knocking On Heaven’s Door, Code of silence, Ayamma etc.
2: Kemi Adetiba: The self-acclaimed “King-Woman”. She has proven to be a force to be reckoned with in her field. We how she put in the work, finesse into her Wedding Party 1&2 movie which was a huge success.
3: Omoni Oboli: She joined recently to the producers game and has done a great work since she started.Movies produced by her include Wives on Strike, Okafor’s Law etc.
4: Rita Dominic: Rita has always been a great value to the Nigerian movie industry. As a way to go further in her career, she founded The Audrey Silver Company which serves as a production firm. She has produced Movies such as 76, The Meeting, The Fugitive etc.
5: Uche Jombo: Nollywood hasn’t seen the best yet because women are coming strong in the game. The era of just being an actress has ended with Uche as she took her career a step further by testing the waters. She came with a bang and produced the movie, Holding Hope.
