In one simple sentence, Adwoa Aboah is the model of the year! Adwoa must have leapt on getting the request to be on the December issue of Vogue and not only that get to talk with Vogue’s new editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful. According to Vogue, she appears in a 14 page shoot alongside the cover of the December issue and was styled by Edward Enninful himself.
“Being on this cover is the biggest thing that’s happened in my career,” said the model, activist, Vogue contributing editor and British Fashion Council ambassador. (She was among the first British Vogue contributing editors appointed by Enninful back in July, alongside Pat McGrath, Steve McQueen, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Grace Coddington.)
In her chat with Edward on being mixed and British, she says “It’s 100% empowering and fabulous, there’s this knowing and understanding that we are all in it together”. Edwards of course appreciates her honesty for staying true to what she stands for, her empowerment on girls and being his first ever Vogue editorial.
Adwoa has come a long way since this year begun. She has partnered with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, become the face Marc Jacobs Beauty and her digital initiative Gurls Talk. There’s so much for a model who has got a voice and credibility to be who she is and stand by her belief.
