The corduroy is the last piece you would want to have in your closet. Corduroy-that fabric composed of tufted cords could be just another metaphor for ” a school girl’s uniform” or a cloth for the people with no taste in fashion. No shade but it’s a common stereotype about corduroys.
I am yet to see hot street style stars like Gigi Hadid, Kendal Jenner and even the baddest Rihanna rocking a cord shorts or wear a skimpy cord slip dress. To add more weight on this cord matter, have you spotted anyone wearing an over-the-top cord party dress to dinner or a red carpet?
Please kill me already!
The ugly corduroy made a huge comeback on the February Fall runways in autumnal hues like burgundy, chestnut, and canary yellow. The game is about to change because it’s going to be the battle of the cords and denims.
Against the traditional connotations about it, designers are transforming this “ugly betty” to “becky with the wavy hair”. From the master designers Prada and Gucci, the former presented a two-piece made of brown corduroy with mixed fabric pockets. Isabel Marant shocked us with the workwear jackets with puckered shoulders and balloon sleeves (Refinery29). Gucci for fall just made us bend on our knees already begging to be the first to try out this corduroy bright blue outfit.
However you underestimate it, denims are about to be your next ignored bottoms. A well styled corduroy be it misfit, oversized, mini or maxi will look good on anyone who has got a sense of style.
