November 9th will be remembered as the day when women in Nigeria from different professions and walks of life gathered to witness the Unveiling of a women’s magazine to celebrate women in their careers and businesses and support those who aspire to start the process. The theme of the day centered around “Character” as a currency of trade greater than the dollar. The Essential Woman Magazine launch was more than merely a launch but a wake up call for women to come up higher in their roles in the family unit and the society at large. In her opening speech, Mrs Ekua Abudu (Editor of Essential Woman) enjoined women to imbibe the principles of character and integrity as they aspire to reach their various goals in a morally corrupt society.
The speeches were immediately followed by a panel discussion where issues around ethics, morals, principles and core values were exhaustively addressed. The panel comprised of leading women in business among who are Ego Boyo (Producer/CEO Temple Productions), Ada Osakwe (Founder/CEO Agrolay Ventures), Kehinde Nwani (Founder, Meadow Hall Group), Vivian Shobo (CEO Augusto & Co) and moderated by Onouju Irukwu (MD Chapel Hill Denham Management).
The day proceeded with an in-depth review of the Essential Woman Magazine by Ayona Trimnell followed by the official magazine launch by Mrs. Demuren (Chairman, GTBank). In the closing segment of the event, Titi Ogufere (Publisher, Essential Woman Magazine) gave the vote of thanks.
It was truly a thought-provoking and inspirational morning that left us with a great amount of hope for women, our society and the future to come.
