Though more frequently cooked or pickled, Beetroots can be eaten raw. Beet leaves are similar to spinach or kale and can be prepared and enjoyed just like any other leafy green.

Interestingly, Beetroot itself can be used in the kitchen in several other ways – fried, grilled, roasted or boiled, beetroots can be a healthy part of your meals. They can also be used for salads, in cakes, and of course, in smoothies too.

1. Beetroot Apple Carrot Ginger Smoothie

Now this is one miracle smoothie you should try! A regular drink of a combination of these super fruits will load your body with energy, help it fight cancer, keep your heart healthy, lower blood pressure, cleanse your liver of toxic impurities, improve the tone of your skin and most certainly, improve your overall health. Need I say more?

Ingredients:

  • 3 carrots
  • 1 Large apple
  • Two medium-sized Beets
  • 1 inch fresh Ginger
  • 1 cup plain water or fresh organic apple juice

Method: Simply Combine all in blender and puree till smooth.

  • Three medium sized beets, rinsed, peeled and chunked

  • 1 cup water

Instructions: Combine all in a blender and blend until smooth.

  • One handful beet greens, chopped
  • One medium sized fresh or frozen banana, chopped
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries of choice
  • One tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 cup water

Directions: Ensure to remove the stems from the greens. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
