At the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) premiere of a movie, ‘Queen of Katwe’, celebrity thespians Lupita Nyong’O and David Oyelowo made statements in African inspired looks.
Lupita Nyong’O wore a House of Herrera dress in yellow featuring embellished royal blue floral appliqué details, topped with a blue headwrap, soft glam makeup look, red lips and blue pumps on the red carpet.
On the other hand, David Oyelowo adorns an African styled gold embroidered tunic on black pants paired with embellished velvet loafers looking every bit like an African prince on the red carpet.
Queen of Katwe is a Disney adaptation based on the true story of young Ugandan chess prodigy, Phiona Mutesi played by newcomer Madina Nalwanga, who becomes a World Chess Champion.
Directed by Mira Nair (Mississippi Masala) and written by William Wheeler (The Hoax) this highly anticipated film stars David Oyelowo as Robert Katende (Phiona’s coach) and Lupita Nyong’o as Phiona’s mother.
