AGE
Although you might still be very far away from your Menopausal age, the older you get, the lower your testosterone level drops. And testosterone is one of the hormones responsible for boosting sex drive. So don’t beat yourself up, you can’t go back to how it was in your early twenties.
SUBSTANCE USE
Wine, cocktails and vodka shots inevitably make you feel sexy at the moment, but it doesn’t affect your body in the same way. Substance use can lower your levels of desire and make sex painful. Alcohol and smoke dehydrate you, and this leaves your body weak and irritable and not interested in sex. If you’re one of the few women left who still smokes, the blood-flow issues it causes will impact your sex drive.
BREASTFEEDING
If you’ve a newborn, chances are you’re not cleared for sex yet. As long as you are breastfeeding, your body may react to sexual arousal in weird or even unpleasant ways, such as vaginal dryness, sensitive breasts, tiredness, and even milk excretion during orgasm. Breastfeeding may be your body telling you not to get pregnant again yet.
ISSUES WITH YOUR PARTNER
If you’re very healthy, and none of the factors mentioned above affect you, then you should take a serious look at how you feel about your partner. Any slight issue — a resentment, fight, even infidelity is likely to find its way into your level of affection thus affecting your sex drive. Calmly discuss your feelings with your partner and seek to resolve whatever issues may exist so you can re-ignite that spark between you two.
ANTIDEPRESSANTS
Studies have shown that drugs such as Prozac reduce libido. While side effects of drugs differ from one person to the other, It is still an option to consider.
LACK OF EXERCISE
Exercising gets your blood flowing, boosts your energy and releases happiness hormones. If you stop working out, those benefits will disappear, and your sex drive might drop.
STRESS
If you’re under a lot of pressure at work, your body will likely produce cortisol, the stress hormone. Elevated levels of cortisol suppress your sex drive. Fix this by delegating more or speaking with your boss about reducing your workload.
Don’t go telling him/her it’s because your libido has dropped o! Lol…
