The beautiful, talented and petite fashion designer Toluwaloju Olowofoyeku just turned 27 years old. She is the founder and creative director of women’s wear brand Toju Foyeh. She actually started her professional life as a Lawyer, studying Law at the University of Reading and obtaining an LLM at the University of Manchester, both in United Kingdom.
She later returned to Nigeria in 2012 to attend law school where she became qualified to practice law in Nigeria. So why did she not continue to pursue her Law Career?
She fell in love with fashion from a very young age. That passion haunted her for a while until she decided to do something about it. After her post graduate law degree in the UK, she decided to attend fashion school in Milan, Italy. Since then she has been known as “The” celebrity designer to many Nigerian female celebs from Tiwa Savage who she credited as giving her the big break she needed to break into the Nigeria fashion and entertainment industry. Omawunmi, Waje, Andrea Manuela Giaccaglia, Toke Makinwa, Osas Ighodaro – Ajibade, Chidinma Ekile, Jennifer Olize, Adama Indimi and many more are also part of her long list of A-list celebrity clients.
Her spotlight really came in 2015 where she showcased in the Lagos Fashion & Design Week. Showcasing pretty frocks featuring lace appliques, sheer fabrics, mermaid/ball gowns and bootleg jumpsuits learnt from attending fashion school in Milan, Italy. Prior to that, she has also been on other prestigious runways such as Arise Fashion Week and Music Meets Runway with endless feature in many magazine covers such Genevieve.
She is hands down one of the trendiest and hottest fashion designers in the Nigeria / African fashion scene. Her pieces are usually creative, bold, ambitious and dramatic.
