5 Health Benefits Of Yoghurt
Hi kamdolls, it’s Thursday and I’m super excited about the weekend already.
So I intend treating myself to a bowl of Yoghurt after work today. But really, what benefits does Yogurt have?
Yogurts are not only good to eat, they also provide several health benefits. With the different varieties and flavors available today, you can have yogurt everyday and can eat huge amounts at that. Apart from being a rich source of nutrients and friendly bacteria, yogurt has characteristics which help in the prevention of several health risks. Listed here are the top 5 reasons why yogurt is good for you.
1. Source of nutrients
Yogurt is a rich source of nutrients like calcium and protein. The concentration of calcium in yogurt is much more than that in milk. Therefore, an intake of yogurt provides more calcium to the body than a similar intake of milk. Calcium is crucial for the maintenance of good bone health and helps in bodily growth in children. The protein present in yogurt is easier to digest because yogurt is made from milk, and during the process of fermentation, milk proteins get cultured and become more digestible.
2. Improves digestion
Yogurt is more digestible than milk. It also contains plenty of friendly bacteria which help in improving the functioning of the digestive system in the body. It improves the smooth functioning of the intestines. Yogurt helps in the absorption of nutrients inside the body which enables smooth digestion of food and prevents digestion related complications.
3. Improves colon health
Yogurt contains lactobacteria (acidophilus) which enable the growth and breeding of friendly bacteria in your colon which then helps in maintaining the health of the colon and even provides protection from the possibility of colon cancer. These friendly bacteria reduce the risks of other colon diseases as well prevent any harm that can occur to the colon.
4. Reduces cholesterol
Yogurt is essentially created by the fermentation of milk, and due to the presence of live cultures, it also enables the reduction of cholesterol in the blood, thereby preventing complications related to excessive cholesterol in the blood.
5. Boosts immunity
Interferons are proteins which influence the immune system in intensifying its defenses against diseases. Yogurt has been noted to have interferon producing qualities, which thus help in boosting the immune system of your body. A good amount of yogurt intake everyday thus helps in the maintenance of an overall good health.
Yogurt is essentially a health food and is beneficial for both the young and old. With its nutritional benefits and disease prevention qualities, yogurt is a food anyone can have at any time for the maintenance of good health.
Care to share a bowl with me? You’re welcome. Xoxo
