Its “That Time Of The Month”…But It’s Ok

“That Time Of The Month” is literally that time of the month that when a woman has her period. First the PMS then then cramps then everything else that follows. We will not be discussing that today….at least not yet. Rather, Today I give 3 element fruits that have been tried, tested and proven to help woman manage and deal with menstrual cramps.

By the way, Menstrual cramps (also known as dysmenorrhea) are pains that occur in the abdominal and pelvic areas as a result of the menstrual period. The pain can vary significantly from woman to woman, with some cramps being relatively mild to others which are extremely severe.

While there are various methods and food groups that help make “that time of the month” go on by smoothly, these 3 fruits have a lot to offer too

1. Banana:

mp9Bananas have a high potassium content which helps ease the pain and cramps during your periods. Include bananas in your diet in the form of smoothies and mixed fruit salads

2. Lemon:

lemon-juice

According to old wives tale, taking lemon juice (squeeze out the liquid in the lemon to extract its juice) helps ease the pain of menstruation and also causes it to stop way before end date. This is because due to the lemon’s acidic property, it detox the body, causing the uterine lining to shed more quickly.

What to do with it:

a. Add the juice of 3 lemons in cold water and drink it every day. This helps ease pain and bloating during periods.

b. Drink lemon water every morning after you wake up during the period of your cycle.

3. Papaya:

Paw-paw contains carotene plus high amounts of vitamins C and A, as well as lower amounts of iron and calcium.  It is a very effective home remedy for menstrual cramps.

What to do with it:

a. Eat unripe paw-paw around your “that time of the month”. This will effectively prevent against menstrual pain.

Which of these fruit remedies can you relate to the most? Which do you disagree with? What did I forget? Tell me in the comments.
